Riverchain has been shortlisted in two categories at the Asian Legal Business (ALB) Hong Kong Law Awards 2026, in recognition of the strength of its in-house legal function and its contribution to the company’s growth in the fintech and trade finance space.
The company is a finalist for Fintech In-House Team of the Year, recognising the team’s work supporting Riverchain’s business at the intersection of law, technology and finance, and for Young Lawyer of the Year (In-House), with Hsiang Low nominated for his outstanding contributions and leadership within the in-house legal team.
A legal team that builds, not just advises
The nominations reflect the distinctive role that legal plays at Riverchain. Rather than sitting downstream of product, capital and technology, the legal team sits upstream of all three — designing the structures on which the business runs, and then leading the AI transformation that automated their execution.
Riverchain’s legal team has built the legal architecture for an entirely new asset class, structured the company from early-stage SAFE instruments through to institutional equity and credit, run the deployment and governance of a company-wide AI programme, and supported the company’s expansion across Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. The team’s breadth spans structured finance, corporate and venture financing, data protection, technology procurement and employment matters.
In a very real sense, the team’s work is the product. The receivables assignment, collection account and enforcement structures it designed are the foundation of the platform — without them, there is no platform and no institutional capital. Those structures now underpin more than US$200 million of originated financing across 700+ transactions and 137 construction projects, including Kai Tak Sports Park, the Northern Metropolis and HKIA Terminal 2. The team’s leadership of Riverchain’s AI programme has since cut transaction completion time by 25%.
What distinguishes the team, in short, is not volume but position.
